Honor Your Loved Ones with the Light up a Life Holiday Tribute
|
The holiday season can be bittersweet, especially when we miss loved ones who are no longer with us. It’s a time for reflection, to remember the joy and love they brought into our lives, and to honor their legacy. VNA offers a special opportunity to honor the memory of those you hold dear in a meaningful, lasting way.
The Light Up a Life program allows you to pay tribute to your loved ones. With a suggested donation of $10 or more, a personalized dove with your loved one’s name will be placed on one of the community trees of your choice. This simple gesture of remembrance offers a way to reflect, connect, and keep the spirit of those we’ve lost alive during the holiday season.
For a gift of $100 or more, you can receive a crystal dove ornament engraved with your honoree’s name, mailed directly to your home. This elegant ornament serves as a lasting keepsake or sentimental gift.
Your generous donation helps ensure that VNA Hospice Care can continue to provide expert serious illness care to patients and compassionate support for their caregivers and families, regardless of their ability to pay.
Click here or below to make your donation and select your tribute today. To ensure timely delivery of your crystal dove ornament, please place your order by Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, to ensure it arrives before Christmas. All other memorial gifts with your loved one’s name on a paper dove can be made through Dec. 24.

A Message From Katherine Krause
|
In 1934, amid the Great Depression, Sadie Lefkowitz of Temple Emanu-El rallied prominent Dallas women to organize the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas. With a dream, determination, and a bank balance of $4.61, these women hired VNA’s first paid nurse and gained the support of the Dallas community to serve its most vulnerable members.
VNA nurses traveled to tent cities—wherever under-resourced mothers, babies, and children lived—to offer hope and life-giving care. In its first year of operation, VNA nurses made 6,500 home visits. No calls were refused, and no patients were turned away for lack of resources, race, or creed.
As we prepare to celebrate 90 years of service, I am in awe of how the same spirit and tenacity that led a group of compassionate women to serve the most vulnerable then still drives our mission today. The dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters of the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas fuel our work to:
- Feed the hungry
- Enable the disabled
- Care for the seriously ill
- Promote health equity in the communities we serve
- Comfort patients and their families at the end of life
Thank you for joining us in this moment of celebration and excitement for our future.
