VNA Meals on Wheels Kids Camp
|
Are you looking for a meaningful experience for your 8-11 year old this summer? The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) has a great opportunity this summer! We have created a camp to empower the next generation of volunteers and philanthropists by teaching them:
- The reality of senior hunger in our community
- The importance of good nutrition
- How to combat social isolation
- The gift of volunteerism
Campers will take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Meals on Wheels kitchen, deliver a Meals on Wheels route, and participate in various activities to encourage learning and empathy regarding senior hunger, isolation and the importance of lifelong volunteerism.

Our hearts and bellies are full!

Last Thursday, April 4th, we hosted our 14th Annual Celebrity Chef event featuring Barbecue Pitmaster, Aaron Franklin. Guests were treated to delicious barbecue, a grilling demonstration, and interactive Q&A with Aaron. The event raised more than $761,610 in support of VNA Meals on Wheels, Hospice and Supportive Palliative Care.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our Honorary Chairs, The Moody Foundation, for their long-time support of VNA, our mission, and all they do for our community. Also, thank you to our host committee, guests, and every person who made this event a huge success!

Volunteers are the heart of VNA!
Did you know that 90 years ago this month, a group of passionate volunteers started the Visiting Nurse Association right here in Dallas? April rings in Volunteer Appreciation month and VNA has a lot to be thankful for! Because VNA was founded in the tradition of volunteerism, we are acutely aware of the incredible impact volunteers make for those in need and on the community overall.
VNA Meals on Wheels has an army of volunteers more than 5,000 strong who deliver food and friendship every weekday throughout the year ensuring our hungry, homebound neighbors have the nourishment they need. Our clinical volunteers provide compassionate support to our Hospice and Supportive Palliative Care patients and their families at a time when they are needed most. These special individuals bring so much heart to their work and we are so grateful for their time and commitment to VNA and those we serve.
Today, we honor the thousands of VNA volunteers who dedicate their time, compassion, and care.
