YOU made the holidays merry and bright for Meals on Wheels clients and seriously ill patients!
|
VNA Meals on Wheels volunteers and staff deliver food and friendship year-round, but on Thanksgiving and Christmas, the joy is multiplied! On Thanksgiving, more than 1,000 volunteers began their morning by delivering turkey, dressing, and all the fixings to 5,000 homebound seniors and disabled adults. On Christmas Day, over 900 volunteers were up early to help us deliver extra special Christmas joy to clients—a festive hot, holiday meal and a hand-decorated gift bag filled with full-sized toiletry items, socks, and a washcloth. These special gifts and warm visits mean so very much to the often-isolated seniors we serve. Additionally, volunteers delivered Salvation Army Angel Tree gifts to 135 senior clients.
Thank you to the individuals and groups who made the holidays extra special, including:
Administration for Children & Families, Bank of America, Citi, City of Grand Prairie, Compass School, Dallas College, Dallas Sai Center, Deliverance Point Church, Douglas Elliman Real Estate, Greystar, Halff Associates Inc., Highland Park United Methodist Church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Inspire Team, ISN, Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, JP Morgan Chase, Keystone Church, King of Glory Lutheran Church, NCL Dallas, NCL North Prestonwood, New Life in Christ Lutheran Church, Northridge Presbyterian Church, Park Cities Rotary Club, PepsiCo, Plano Amateur Radio Club, Plymouth Park Baptist Church, Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Southwest Airlines, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Students Serving Seniors, Temple Emanu-El, Texas Capital Bank, The Senior Source Senior Companion Program, Toyota, United Healthcare, United MegaCare, UT Southwestern, VNA Staff, VNA Teen Board, VoYagers, and Wells Fargo.
The VNA Hospice team and volunteers delivered more than 150 holiday gifts to adult hospice patients. Additionally, the VNA Children’s Haven team collected Angel Tree toys and gifts for our pediatric patients and their siblings in total 55 children received gifts. Thank you to all who brought extra joy, warmth and generosity over the holidays to our homebound senior clients and seriously ill patients and their families.

A Message From Katherine Krause – Snow Day
|
The snowfall is a beautiful site but can be a challenge for the seniors we serve, patients we care for and neighbors who may be medically fragile. If you are a caregiver or know of folks who could use some extra care during inclement weather, please click below for some helpful resources:
The VNA team is working diligently to care for our patients and clients during this time. You can help us out by volunteering to call Meals on Wheels clients to check on them and remind them of our non-delivery days. Email the volunteer team at volunteer@vnatexas.org to learn more! Thank you for all you do year-round to care for aging and ill neighbors. Stay warm and safe!
