Volunteer Spotlight – Meet Ms. Mae Rowlett
|
Mae started volunteering with the VNA Meals on Wheels program 15 years ago on July 14, 2009, with her then employer, HHS – Administration for Children and Families. Her interest in the VNA Meals on Wheels volunteering opportunity was inspired by her godmother, a former client of VNA, and her sister, a former volunteer. Mae felt VNA Meals on Wheels program would be a great volunteer opportunity and a wonderful way to give back to the community HHS-ACF already served. HHS-ACF even had a team delivering meals on Mondays. After retiring, Mae decided to continue giving back to the community by delivering meals in South Dallas. Today, she delivers two regular South Dallas routes every Friday and is quick to call the VNA volunteer team if she ever has time to pick up extra routes.
From our hearts to yours, Mae, THANK YOU for continuing to live the VNA mission and assisting us in helping seniors age with dignity and independence at home. You are appreciated!

During the month of February, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Toyota Financial Services Risk team back for another meal delivery Day of Caring. Whether through philanthropic donations or volunteerism efforts, the Toyota Financial Services Risk team always out does themselves! By volunteering with us, the Toyota Financial Services Risk team was able to make a positive impact on the Dallas County community delivering 255 meals to our clients equaling a cost savings of $318.75. That’s enough to feed two seniors for an entire month!
Thank you to the Toyota Financial Services Risk for partnering with us. We look forward to hosting your team again in the future!
If you and your group are interested in partnering with VNA Meals on Wheels, please contact our Community Engagement Coordinator, Yakia McKinnie at yakia.mckinnie@vnatexas.org or 214-689-2464.
