Due to inclement weather, our 17th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event was canceled, but this did not stop our volunteers from springing into action to provide wellness calls to the more than 4,800 Dallas County seniors we serve.
A call for action for wellness calls, known as virtual delivery calls, went out Friday, January 12th. More than 250 volunteers including the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorors, the Northeast Dallas Chapter of Jack and Jill, St. John’s Episcopal School, United Women in Faith St. Paul Unit, the VNA Meals on Wheels Teen Board teens and parents, the Zeta Phi Beta-Upsilon Nu Zeta Chapter Sorors, and many more responded ready to assist.
Clients were very grateful to receive these calls and expressed joy and appreciation at knowing someone was thinking of them during those cold winter weather days.
From our clients to you, THANK YOU for always delivering so much more than a meal!

VNA Meals on Wheels had a tremendous outpouring of support from our many corporate partners and groups in December. As featured in our video above, Toyota Motor North America donated 1,000 completed Adopt-A-Senior holiday gift bags! We also had 100 moms and their daughters with NCL Heart of Dallas assemble Adopt-A-Senior gift bags.
We also had many partners come out and deliver meals: British Telecom, Episcopal School of Dallas, Hockaday, Santander, and Smith-Clinesmith had a total of 92 volunteers collectively deliver 34 routes! Some of these groups also made cards and assembled and delivered healthy snacks for our clients. We also had 20 dedicated members of the YMSL Dal-Rich and Richardson chapters helped with the mighty task of packing out pet food for the hundreds of pets currently on service.
VNA is incredibly grateful for the support of all of our partners—and volunteers who delivered all 362 routes for Christmas Delivery!—who make our vital work possible. Thank you for all you do for VNA!
We are also excited to announce a NEW partnership with the City of Grand Prairie! The City will begin delivering meals regularly—four routes on the fourth Friday of every month! Welcome, City of Grand Prairie, to the VNA Meals on Wheels family. We can’t wait to work with you!
