Marie has lived in Oak Cliff since the 1960s, where she raised her family and owned a thriving craft store and cafeteria in the Jefferson Shopping Center. As an accomplished cook, Marie especially enjoys the chicken and rice and hamburger meals offered by VNA Meals on Wheels!
Marie has always found a way to give back to the community she loves. As a longtime Oak Cliff resident, she previously led prayer groups with her church ministry and prepared meals for the homeless. Marie is especially close to her granddaughter, Jordan, who is a special presence in her life. She helped spark Jordan’s interest in volunteering and fondness for animals.
When Marie poses with her three dogs – Bentley, Luke, and Cha-cha – her eyes immediately light up. Marie’s furry companions have been constant sources of love and comfort, and she has utilized VNA’s Pet Care Program to offset the often-costly expenses associated with animal care. To help with her pets, Marie receives supplemental pet food each month through VNA, which has played a vital role in nourishing her dogs. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Marie has benefited from the support of her loving family and the warm, nutritious food delivered by VNA staff and volunteers.
