Are you ready for Teen Board?
|
Each year, up to 65 high school students (grades 9-12) from schools throughout the Dallas area represent the VNA Meals on Wheels Teen Board. Through various volunteer projects and special events, the Teen Board’s objective is to assist VNA Meals on Wheels in feeding the hungry and spreading awareness about senior hunger. If you have a teen interested in participating in the 2024-2025 VNA Meals on Wheels Teen Board, we would love to have them!
Click here to apply! We will begin reviewing applications on September 9th. Please do not hesitate to contact Tracie Demery-Glover at demeryt@vnatexas.org for more information.

Volunteer Highlight of the Month
|
Meet Richardson volunteer, Ted Tobolowsky. Ted has seen several of his family members benefit from both VNA Hospice and Meals on Wheels programs over the years. He and several of his extended family members have deep-rooted ties to VNA. He has had grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins touched by VNA. One cousin was the President of the VNA Board of Directors and remains an Honorary Trustee. In 2015, Ted made a commitment that exemplifies the service-oriented heart that runs throughout his family. He began giving back through VNA Meals on Wheels. The clients on his Richardson routes have been the reason he has continued to serve. He enjoys the visits and the conversations he shares with the clients and looks forward to seeing them and subs as often as he can. Last week, his service expanded when we had a Pet Care Program need, and he answered the call. Helping pack and deliver pet food is now part of his repertoire.

Corporate Group Spotlight
|
In July, we had the pleasure of welcoming a team of volunteers from the Dallas Stars for their first meal delivery Day of Caring. As the national hockey league of Dallas, the Dallas Stars are committed to making a difference in the communities they work, live, and play. This group of fans, organized by the Dallas Stars, made a positive impact by delivering 124 meals to our senior neighbors in need, saving VNA $229.40 which will allow us to extend seven clients’ meals for an additional week.
Thank you again to the volunteer team from the Dallas Stars for partnering with us, and we look forward to hosting your team again in the future!
If you and your group want to partner with VNA Meals on Wheels, please get in touch with our Community Engagement Coordinator Yakia McKinnie at yakia.mckinnie@vnatexas.org or 214-689-2464.
