There is no “right way” to navigate the grief that comes with the loss or anticipated loss of a loved one. Grief can leave us feeling very alone and unsure. Our expert and compassionate team of social workers, bereavement counselors, and Certified Child Life Specialists are all trained to help patients and families through this process. We offer grief support for our patient caregivers as well as community support groups. If you or someone you know could use some extra support and the hope in knowing you are not alone, please reach out to griefcare@vnatexas.org or view our grief support resources by clicking here.

In our 2024 fiscal year, we made a goal at VNA Meals on Wheels to reach 5,000 hungry, homebound seniors to provide food and friendship every weekday. With your help, our dedicated team has surpassed our goal! From our 2023 to 2024 fiscal years, VNA Meals on Wheels grew by more than 16% and served more than 1.3 million home-delivered meals!
Additionally, VNA’s incomparable continuum of care also grew in FY24 with the incredible dedication of the entire VNA team. The Meals on Wheels and Palliative and Hospice Care teams collaborated to provide wraparound services to ensure our homebound seniors are safe at home. The Community Health Workers completed more than 675 screenings, made nearly 200 referrals for additional services, and connected more than 135 clients with a higher level of clinical care in the home. We know we will do even more in FY25! Thank you for helping us do more for our elderly neighbors and feed more hungry seniors!

A Message From Katherine Krause New Year, New Mission
|
Here at the Visiting Nurse Association, we believe it is imperative to analyze and evaluate our services to ensure we are providing patients and clients with the highest quality care possible. Our staff and board collaborate to form a new strategic plan every three years to solidify these ideals in the overall scope of the organization’s program offerings. Our new strategic plan focus areas include:
- Best in Class People
- Continuum of Care
- Expansion
- Technology to Innovate
In addition to these organizational planning efforts, we have also updated our mission statement to better encompass the important work we are doing within our community and the growth we anticipate in the next three years. It can be difficult to adequately convey the message of an organization focusing on clinical care and social services. As our staff and board leadership met to discuss how to capture the breadth and depth of how we serve our North Texas community, we were acutely aware of the need to touch on the newer service offerings VNA provides.
VNA’s new mission statement is to provide care to our community, enhancing health and well-being with compassion, dignity and integrity.
With our long history of helping the most vulnerable, we are proud to look ahead to this new chapter. Thank you for your dedication to our work and your commitment to our mission.
