In clip 1, Dennis McCuistion interviews Ms. Rogers and talks about the work of Visiting Nurse Association with the elderly population which has been confined and are very isolated during COVID. Often the meals that VNA provides are the only meals this population has.
In clip 2, Jim Falk interviews Anurag Jain, about the numbers of people who now rely on food packages distributed by the North Texas Food Bank. With unemployment rates up, the only food a family may now have is what they receive from food banks.
- Over 27% of children under 18 in Dallas live in households that have experienced food insecurity in the past year. With schools not in session more children are going hungry.
- Dallas County ranks 5.9 out of 10 on the Food Environment Index (FEI).
In clip 3, Jim Falk interviews Dr. John Carlo and Raymond Castilleja, Jr, about one of the countries most vulnerable populations, people of all ages who have HIV/ AIDS; from food issues to getting timely health treatment they are even more vulnerable than usual.
