VNA SafeHaven is a free, comprehensive six-week grief support program offering emotional
support to families with children and teens who have experienced loss through the death
of someone significant in their lives.
VNA SafeHaven is open to any child age 5 through 18 and their family who have experienced
the death of a loved one. Adult professionals and highly-trained, caring volunteers lead
small groups of children of similar age in age-appropriate activities and discussions on
grief and coping skills.
Adult family members meet as a separate group during this six-week program. As their
children learn more effective ways to express their feelings and to acknowledge the value
of each family member, parents and guardians can share and reinforce those coping skills
in the home setting.
