Welcome the 2019 VNA Meals on Wheels Teen Board!
Each year we welcome a new group of teens to join us in making Dallas County a better community. This year we're excited to have a total of sixty-nine new members from a variety of different schools around the city. During their term each student will help organize community events, help make decisions on new programs and take action in their own community advocating for Meals on Wheels.
For more information about the VNA Meals on Wheels Teen Board contact Inga Wilson at 214-689-2685 or wilsoni@vnatexas.org.

Announcing the Southwest Airlines Contest Winner
Nearly 2,500 VNA Meals on Wheels volunteers utilized the delivery app over the summer. Thanks to the generosity of our friends at Southwest Airlines, one lucky volunteer is the winner of two passes on SWA! Congratulations to our winner and thank you to all of the volunteers who have downloaded the app and are using it to deliver food and friendship to our homebound neighbors!
You can download the app by going to the App Store for iOS or Play Store for Android and search for “VNA Meals on Wheels.” If you have any questions, check out some mobile app FAQs, email volunteer@vnatexas.org, or submit your inquiry here. You can also view a quick user guide here or a full user guide here.
As always, if you have any questions or feedback, please email volunteer@vnatexas.org or visit our Help Page at https://volunteer.vnatexas.org/help.

A message from CEO, Katherine Krause
Fall into a Season of Giving
With North Texas Giving Day around the corner, our generous community is gearing up for the giving season. We are grateful for the incredible support from our volunteers and donors who support VNA year-round. As we approach Thanksgiving and Christmas, your generosity is felt even more by the seniors we serve. During this special season, I want to extend an invitation to join us in giving, serving and learning with VNA.
Give to VNA on North Texas Giving Day - $32 feeds a senior for a week; $150 provides a day of care for a terminally ill patient.
Order a delicious pumpkin or pecan pie for your Thanksgiving celebration through VNA Power of Pie and serve up joy for a homebound senior in need.
Honor the life of a loved one through our Light Up a Life holiday memorial program – doves with the loved one’s name will be placed on community trees across North Texas.
Gather your family and friends together to deliver Meals on Wheels. Serving together during fall breaks, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas is a great way to connect as a family and care for others in our community.
Learn more about becoming a hospice volunteer—anything from office help to sitting with patients so a family caregiver can get some rest, attend church or go to the grocery story means so much for the families we serve.
Make an effort to discuss your aging wishes with loved ones before a health crisis.
You, our volunteers and donors, are the heart of VNA. Thank you for continuing to help seniors age with dignity and independence at home. We look forward to sharing in another wonderful season of giving with you.
Sincerely,
Katherine
